D5Connection pools

The problem

1 s on screen = 100 ms

Why does the database say “too many connections” when it isn't even busy?

A new connection per request

Two app servers call a database that accepts at most 20 connections. Each request opens its own, then closes it.

D5Connection pools

Opening a database connection costs a handshake, and a database accepts only so many. A pool shares a few open lines.
